Cast of Hamari Adhuri Kahani returns to film in Dubai

The cast and crew of Bollywood movie Hamari Adhuri Kahani were back in Dubai for a further two days of shooting this week.

It was the second visit for the filmmakers, including Bollywood stars Emraan Hashmi, Vidya Balan and Rajkummar Rao, and director Mohit Suri, following a 16-day shoot in October.

Local producer Raghu Ambati reveals that the team were shooting in Cape Town in the intervening weeks for what looks set to be a truly international production.

This week’s Dubai shoot took in Mina Bazaar along with its views of the dhows on Dubai Creek, and Dubai Miracle Garden, the setting for our on-set photos.

Shooting during the previous month’s visit included a week at Qasr Al Sarab in the Abu Dhabi desert, followed by nine days in Dubai where audiences will spot several familiar locations, including the Emirates Terminal at Dubai International Airport, Sheikh Zayed Road and more scenes by the Creek.

The movie is a love story, based on the experiences of writer/producer Mahesh Bhatt’s own parents, and is scheduled for a June 2015 release.

It is the latest in a string of Bollywood big hitters to pass through Dubai recently, with both Welcome Back and Happy New Year filming extensively in the city in the last few months.

Jamal Al Sharif, chairman of the Dubai Film & TV Commission and managing director of Dubai Studio City, seems confident there’ll be plenty more to come.

“It is great to see another Bollywood blockbuster choose Dubai as its filming location,” he says. “We strive to establish Dubai and the UAE as the premier filming destination for local and around-the-globe productions, and this is a testament that the Emirate enjoys a wide variety of backgrounds and places that cater for all types of productions.”
