Emraan Hashmi has made mistakes: Mukesh Bhatt

Over the years, Emraan Hashmi has delivered several hit films with the Bhatts. However, the last four films that Emraan has done outside the banner haven’t worked too well — whether it was Ek Thi Daayan (2013) or Ghanchakkar (2013) or this year’s Raja Natwarlal and Ungli.

But that doesn’t seem to bother producer Mukesh Bhatt, who is known to be the actor’s mentor. He is confident that his next two films with Emraan will make up for the lull in his career. "I can guarantee that both the films we are doing will be well-received and a hit. We know what we are making," says Bhatt.

Ask him why he is so sure that these films will work when Emraan hasn’t had a hit in two years, and he says, "When a film doesn’t work, the actor alone can’t be held responsible. No hero is bigger than the character written for him. The audience doesn’t judge actors by their past films. If it did, then Amitabh Bachchan wouldn’t have got a chance to do a film like Zanjeer (1973)."

Having said that, Bhatt does admit that Emraan hasn’t made the wisest decisions with regards to signing films in the last few years. "Of course, Emraan has made mistakes, and now he is learning the hard way," says Bhatt.
