Emraan Hashmi Happy Birthday: From serial kisser to serious roles.

Emraan Hashmi, born on March 24th, 1979, celebrates his 36th birthday and in style. The Mr. X actor has been known for having a very infamous start to his career and quickly earned the title of serial kisser for the amount of kisses that got featured in his earlier films. Starting off with an erotic thriller like Murder (2004) with a lot of steamy scenes with Mallika Sherawat had the audience feeling the heat in air-conditioned theatres. He went on to work in films like Zeher (2005) and Murder 2 (2011) as he continued his image as that actor who kisses all his heroines.

It is worth mentioning that for some strange reason, irrespective of who he worked with or if the film did well on the box office or not, the songs from his films would always be the new anthem that people hum in trains and generally as soon as they would be released on TV and radio. Emraan Hashmi has certainly come a long way to change his image as a serious actor from being known just for the steamy scenes and kisses in his films.

Emraan Hashmi has been a part of meaningful films with a social message as well and showed as that he can act as well as kiss his co-stars. Films like Shanghai (2012) and Ungli (2014) may not have joined the hundreds of crore box office collection club but the roles, even though secondary, are worth mentioning when the best performances are recalled. The real life characters played in these films show the reality in a brutal way and even though they may not be classified as ‘massy’ films, they are certainly classy in our books.

Emraan Hashmi has had some hits and some misses as he moved on to experiment like any good actor should, to find out what he can and cannot do. After getting married to Parveen Shahani in 2006 after over six years of courtship, they were blessed with a baby boy in 2010. Unfortunately, on January 15th, 2014, Emraan Hashmi’s son, Ayaan (4) was diagnosed with stage-one cancer. Ayaan has undergone the treatment and being detected at an early stage, he has been able to recuperate completely and is a healthy 5-year-old today.

In the 31 films that Emraan Hashmi has appeared in, he has been the lead actor in 16 of those films. Emraan Hashmi made his first film appearance in the Footpath (2003) as Raghu Shrivastav and soon got his big break with Murder in 2004. Emraan Hashmi has three new films lined up for 2015. Tigers has been shot completely and is in the post production stage at the moment. The other two films lined for 2015 are Mr. X and Hamari Adhuri Kahani, both of which are being filmed at the moment.

Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film, Mr. X will rekindle his now-fading image of a serial kisser with reports of a lot of kisses with Amyra Dastur. Emraan Hashmi has worked for films off-camera before his debut as an assistant director for Raaz (2002) and he featured in the sequels, Raaz 2: The Mystery Continues (2009) with Kangana Ranaut and the sequel to that, Raaz 3D (2012) with Bipasha Basu .

Emraan Hashmi, also known as Emmi by his parents, has had phenomenal success but is struggling to get a hit in recent years. He apparently was paid a mind-boggling sum of Rs 4 crore for an energy drink advertisement which is yet to be featured online and on television. Emraan Hashmi is not known to be a common face in TV adverts but when he comes on board, he is paid handsomely.

Not a lot of people know this, but Emraan Hashmi was supposed to make his first film appearance in 2001 film, Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar with Ameesha Patel but that didn’t happen and he was ultimately seen for the first time by theatres audiences in Footpath. We Emraan Hashmi gets back to his path of glory and gives us more films with a social message and passes on the buck as he had once joked that he would like to see the tag of a serial kisser going to his cousin, Alia Bhatt.
