Emraan Hashmi is training under Azharuddin himself - Tanveer Bookwala

Amidst the news on the exit of Kunal Deshmukh from the biopic being made on cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, there have been speculations that Emraan Hashmi, who was to play the lead has opted out of the biopic on the cricket veteran since his good friend Kunal won't be directing it.

However, the producers Balaji Motion Pictures denied the story completely. The film which is now being helmed by Anthony D'Souza is very much on track and there has been no change in Emraan Hashmi playing the lead, confirm the producers.

"Azhar is batting on the front foot, literally, and is our big tent pole summer movie. Anthony D'Souza, director of Boss, helms it. In fact, Emraan Hashmi is training for batting accuracy and authentic cricket playing supervised by Azharuddin himself," says Tanveer Bookwala, Chief Creative Officer, Balaji Motion Pictures.

Though the details of the film are still under wraps, fans of Emraan Hashmi will see the actor portraying the cricket legend next year.
