Ungli quick movie review: Emraan Hashmi and Randeep Hooda shine in the slick youthful entertainer.

Our reviewer Harikumar Subramanian is watching the movie at a theatre and has sent us his first impression of the film.

The story revolves around a gang of four friends who turn into masked social vigilante by night, to tackle the corrupt system in their unique ways. When this Ungli gang gains popularity and almost attains cult status, police officer Kali plans to unearth this group with the help of a carefree cop Nikhil. Can Kali and Nikhil nab the Ungli gang forms the rest of the story.

Performance wise Randeep Hooda has given an impressive performance as crime journalist cum Ungli gang leader. Emraan Hashmi is introduced a little late in the movie making you wonder what’s his role in the plot. Hashmi is spot on as the undisciplined yet street smart cop who agrees to help Sanjay Dutt in stopping Ungli gang. Kangana Ranaut gets a raw deal as she has limited screen time till now, which does not do justice to her calibre. Neil Bhoopalam has done a decent job and Angad Bedi is just there to spoon feed the audience with details of how corruption occurs in our system. The story is not novel but the treatment is fresh and youthful, which will keep the audience engaged throughout the first half. The song Dance Basanti is a needless speed breaker in the narration, but Shraddha Kapoor‘s hot moves makes you overlook that flaw. Lets see what’s in store in the second half

Stay tuned to this space for the full movie review of Ungli.
