3 reasons why Emraan Hashmi films have failed to create magic at the box office!

Emraan Hashmi’s latest film Raja Natwarlal hasn’t managed to rake in big moolah at the box office as expected. The con film has minted around Rs 17 crore nett at the BO so far and has done just about okay business. Yes, Hashmi is not as big a star as Salman Khan but he is known to be a crowd puller. But sadly his magic at the box office seems to have faded. Apart from Raja Natwarlal, his last three films – Ghanchakkar, Ek Thi Daayan and Rush – also failed to pull in crowd to theaters. So what’s going wrong for this talented actor? Why aren’t his films doing well at the BO suddenly? Here’s why…

Musical disharmony

While a good script always does the trick at the box office, for Emraan Hashmi films its the music which ensures success at the ticket windows. In fact, many of his films have done well because they have been high on music. Well, not just music but good music. And that’s one element which has been missing in Hashmi’s last few films including Raja Natwarlal.

Kissing onscreen no longer a taboo

One major reason why Emraan managed to make his mark in Bollywood was because his ‘serial kisser’ avatar. The actor has locked lips in almost all his films but kissing onscreen is no longer a big deal courtesy the next-gen actors like Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra, Parineeti Chopra and Varun Dhawan. Guess its time for The Dirty Picture actor to do away with the kissing spree, hai na?

Bhatt camp – The lucky charm

Call it destiny or coincidence but Bhatt camp has always proved to be lucky for Emraan. Most of his super hit films like Murder, Kalyug, Jannat and Raaz: The Mystery Continues have been produced by Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt. His last successful outing Raaz 3 was also produced by his successful filmmaker uncles. Time to team up again with Vishesh Films, right Emraan?

Apart from these three reasons, wethinks Emraan hasn’t really experimented with the kind of roles his plays. No doubt he is a good actor but than we have seen enough of his roadside romeo and thug avatar on the big screen, no? While the Once Upon A Time In Mumbai actor is immensely talented, wethinks he needs to do something new every now and then to charm the audience and create dhoom at the box office.
