I think most girls are scared of me: Emraan Hashmi.

Emraan Hashmi is evidently happy and excited while talking about his forthcoming movie Raja Natwarlal. With a friendly laugh and gentlemanly demeanour, he talks about how he is back in his comfort zone and all set to play a lovable kamina on screen! “The movie has a lot of tongue-in-cheek humour. It is entertaining and Raja is an adorable and fun character. I would call him the lovable kamina on screen. He is a small con artist, who plays scams on roadside dhabas, supermarkets, etc.
He’s got a girl in his life and things are going great, but all of a sudden the villain in the movie does something bad to him. So now Raja wants to get even with him by orchestrating a big scam. The story turns into a revenge mode and revolves around how this small-time conman takes revenge on this big shot who is 1000 times more powerful than him. One could say it is a story like David versus Goliath,” reveals the actor.
Talking about his co-actor Pakistani beauty Humaima Malick he shares, “It was fantastic working with her. She is beautiful and talented. She has played the character of a bar dancer without being vulgar. She has worked very hard to make this character real.”
In an interview with The Asian Age, Humaima said that she was afraid to work with Emraan, but her perspective changed after she met him.
So what does he think about this? He laughs, “I think most of the girls are scared of me,” and continues, “Everyone who has watched my films have pre-set notions about me. It might be based on the things they had seen or heard, but I don’t blame them. My films might have made them uncomfortable. As for Humaima, I didn’t even look at her in the initial meetings. Pata nahi usko lagega ki main usko ghoor raha hun. So I maintained my distance. I was very cordial and formal with her. After that I think we both were very chilled out, cracked jokes and broke the ice.”
So, how does he stay so cool with a tag like serial-kisser while being a family man? Does it affect him in any way? Emraan says, “I know who and what I am. When someone tells me otherwise, it’s his or her own perception of ‘Emraan Hashmi’. Right? So why should it affect me? I don’t really delve into what others think about me. I have a strong inner belief of who I am and no one can shake that off.
I believe everyone is free to have their version and opinion but you can’t change your life based on someone else’s opinion about you.” Hashmi is also planning to show Raja Natwarlal to his four-year-old son Ayaan, who blessedly sailed through cancer.
Ayaan apparently has not till now seen any of his films. “Yeah, he’ll see it. He is back from the treatment and doing well. My wife and I are planning to shut his eyes during all the kissing scenes,” chuckles the doting father.
Apart from this movie, audiences will see much more of Emraan in the coming months. He adds, “I am working on several projects. There is Mr X, Hamari Adhuri Kahani, Ungli and an international project called Tiger.”
